Writing has always been a big part of my life. I actually started writing as a way to express my emotions throughout my teenage years. As a matter of fact, my mom says I used to write love letters that was so deep and poetic, it actually scared all the boys away. Perhaps that explains why at the age of fourteen I had just a little bit more friends than boyfriends back then. However, little did I realize those love letters from my heart was really just the beginning of my journey and later God was going to use my passion for a greater purpose.

​     But before that could happen, God knew I needed some direction, so He put a very special English teacher in my path. I still recall one of the class assignments that Mrs. Marianne Kjos gave us to do. We each had to write an original poem expressing our emotions on the subject matter of our choice.  After she graded my paper, she met with me after class one day. Yes, she wanted to give me my grade which was an A, but more than that she expressed to me that I should continue writing poetry. She said, "You have a gift, a natural talent." These were words that not only surprised me, but also stayed with me through the years and encouraged me to take my writing ability more seriously. ​

​     After that I began to switch gears and started to use my writing to help others. I did this by giving the ones I love a very special gift to comfort them. Every time there was a funeral or someone I cared about was grieving, I either recited one of my poems or I gave them a personalized gift to help them during their time of grief. Little did I realize it at the time, but it was through those unique gifts that one day 20 years later the business, Deep Hearted Creations would be born. Interesting to note, the company is based on creating inspirational gifts that last a lifetime and through it I found inspiration as well. 

​     Yet before I could arrive at this place on my journey, God had to show me a few more things along the way. One of those things was a course I took, studied and completed back in 2012. It was a bereavement facilitator course and may I say as challenging as it was, I will never forget this part of my journey. It taught me so much and it also allowed me to self-reflect on all the loss in my own life. It was truly a healing experience, and a blessing all wrapped up in one. Today I utilize those special skills and fully support grief share programs where I live.   

     When I'm not writing and helping others I enjoy singing, recording praise and worship music, cooking, doing crafts and taking scenic nature walks. But my biggest inspiration is spending time in God's word and spending quality time with my husband, my family and my dog.
